| The Food Safety Information Council receives its major funding from the Australian Government Department of Health & Ageing . Additional support, which is essential to the Council’s work in raising food safety awareness, comes from state, territory and local government departments and agencies, scientific and educational institutions, community and commercial organisations throughout Australia.
There are three categories of involvement: Member, Supporter and Sponsor.
Member
Organisations and individuals with an interest in promoting food safety are encouraged to apply to be a Council Member.
Members decide the themes for the Council’s annual campaigns and are provided with a range of fact sheets, posters etc as resources for their Food Safety Week activities. Members are listed on our website and in much of our publicity material.
Membership subscriptions, which partly fund the annual campaign, are:
Commercial Enterprises and Government Agencies $1,320 (plus GST) per annum
Professional associations $ 660 (plus GST) per annum
Local government and individual members $ 330 (plus GST) per annum
Supporter
Supporters are organisations or individuals providing funds to the Council which are for general support rather than for specific activities.
Current Supporters
Sponsorship provides an opportunity for organisations to position themselves as excellent corporate citizens aware of the suffering caused by food poisoning and the power of consumer information to decrease its incidence.
Sponsorship is available for a range of materials such as brochures, posters, video news releases, radio and television advertisements, fridge thermometers, etc. Events during National Food Safety Week and at selected times of the year are also available for sponsorship.
